I stood there for almost an hour with a sign saying Köln and Essen on Monday at 11. many cars passed by but the vibe was not great. Frankfurt is a banker city and the people gave me weird looks. However one van stopped after 20 minutes, they were going to Hannover though. After a while a guy driving to Bochum (city right next to Essen) took me along and we had a great ride :)―Arenwithane

It was getting dark so I felt like my chances were getting pretty low. Quite some people ignored me when I came up to them, the vibe of the place doesn’t really help being there with a cardboard. I wanted to go to cologne but went to Frankfurt airport instead and stayed in the city for the night.―Arenwithane

Pretty good to go south out of Frankfurt. There’s a lot of space for cars to stop right before the entrance to the gasstation. Stood there with a sign „Darmstadt“ and eventually someone took me there. Asking around the gasstation didn’t work for me here as most people stayed in Frankfurt―Anonymous

First day noone going south, only Frankfurt or Frankfurt airport. Next day we had a sign saying A5 SOUTH wich was very helpful and got picked up in 20-30 minutes, and drove close to Landau. Got dropped of at gas station near Edesheim. 20 minute walk there, and a store, so you can buy food etc.―Stokars

Really good for Frankfurt or shorter rides, unfortunatelly for us we needed south and desperatly needed to get on A5, when super sweet young lady stopped and drove us to a bigger gas station right on A5―Stokars

Stood almost at the end, lots of trucks and cars coming through. The cars usually go to Köln and not further.―stepanfoj

I wanted to go north-west on the A3, so I should have stopped 1 gas station earlier. Than decided to take a ride to FF airport, but in hindsight I think I should have tried to get to Weiskirchen and cross there...―Anonymous

needed to get to A5 south, people ignored us or looked disgusted, lot of rich people and taxis. after some hours i decided to hide and let my girlfriend take the job. after a while some bolt guy offered blowjob to her, than marriage, but took us to the first gas station on A5 for free. (without bj or marriage). we slept at nearby field, 5km from airport to not to get killed―Anonymous

Extremely lucky lady came up to us as we were making our sign. I can see it not being bad. Not too much traffic though―Anonymous

Bus stop. Well-known hitchhiking spot, good for all directions out of Frankfurt. Get here with Straßenbahn line 16 or 17, or U-Bahn line U4. Stop is 'Festhalle/Messe' (50m away on the other side of the roundabout). You often find other hitchhikers here, especially in the morning. Waiting time 30-60 minutes.
